History was made today 31st January, 2015 in the life of FUTO Catholic faithfuls as the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Obinna visited St Thomas Aquinas Catholic chaplaincy(STACC) for its dedication.

The Holy mass started around 11:05am. During the homily, the Archbishop spoke extensively on the meaning of "dedication of a Catholic Church". Furthermore, he bemoaned the menace of indecency which has predominated our society today. Finally, he spoke on the importance of being in peace with God by abstaining from Sin.

High point of the ceremony was the prayer of the litany of the Saints, prayer of dedication, anointing of the altar, incensing of the altar, lightning of candles round the church walls and blessing of the new tabernacle donated by the vice chancellor and his wife: Prof. Cyril Asiabaka.

In his vote of thanks, the chaplain Rev. Fr. Jude Ike thanked all that made it to the occasion. Similarly, he eulogized the contributions of the Late Prof. Celestine Onwuliri and prayed for the happy repose of his soul.
Awards were presented to the lay faithfuls who also contributed to the building of the chaplaincy.
Students, Staff and other visitors were entertained during the reception.

Catholic clergies from various dioceses, The minister of education(state) Prof Mrs Viola Onwuliri, members of the knights of St. John and St Mulumba, the dean of students affairs Prof M.C Offoh, Heads of department, students from IMSU and Federal Polytechnic Nekede, pupils from FUTO primary and secondary school were also present at the occasion.
