A new set of FUTO students have been elected by you to handle the affairs of the FUTO Students Union Government (SUG). It would be recalled that in compliance with the provisions of the constitution of the FUTO Students Union Government, the Vice-Chancellor inaugurated a 7-member Independent Students Electoral Commission on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 to effectively flag off the process for the conduct of the election for the FUTO Students Union Government for the 2014/2015 session.
The Commission which is statutorily charged with the responsibility for the issuance of guidelines for the election, accreditation of eligible voters, conduct and supervision of the elections successfully conducted free, fair and credible election into the Students Union Government on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. However, due to a glitch in the computer system, a bye-election was held on Friday, September 19, 2014 for position of the President and Secretary-General.
The following candidates emerged victorious from the election:
1. PRESIDENT -  Mr David E. Onochie
2. VICE PRESIDENT - Miss Purity Chukwu
3. SECRETARY GENERAL - Mr Uche P. Anselem
4. P.R.O - Mr Eva Osita
5. FINANCIAL SECRETARY - Mr Henry Nwadialor
6. DIRECTOR OF WELFARE - Mr Austin N. Chima
7. TREASURER - Miss Frances Nriaka
9. DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORT - Mr Utonwa Ezeaku Michael
11. DIRECTOR OF SPORTS - Mr Lefty Fabian
In his reaction to the election, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Dean and staff of the Students Affairs Unit as well as the Independent Students Electoral Commission for exhibiting a high sense of duty and responsibility in carrying out the assignment. He noted that the new SUG executive is expected to support and implement the ideals of the culture of excellence. The new SUG executives will soon be inaugurated.
